Description

Ladies, gentlemen, and the beautiful rainbow betwixt and between, Ultimate Lomeli and The Azure E.S.P.′er proudly present: The Justice League of Earth–Α2ΔΣ–′38 – The Action & Adventure Comics universe’s greatest super-heroes.

The aim of The Action & Adventure Comics project is not to radically reinvent, dissect, or lambast the world’s greatest superheroes, but to celebrate them. Distilled from their best versions across 75+ years of history — and removed from “comic book time” and “negative continuity”, characters age, learn, and evolve in a cohesive series of narratives. In an imprint named for classic Superman titles, heroes act like heroes and get to save the day.

"This is the denouement of the teasers for the superheroes of Earth–Α2ΔΣ–′78: The Action and Adventure Comics project. My absolute favorite team of comic book superheroes: The Justice League.”

Ultimate Lomeli –

“A journey five months in the making and it all comes to this: The Justice League, paragons of heroism. Before I started on this collaboration with The Azure E.S.P.′er, my interest in this medium was waning, my workflow had slowed considerably, and I longed for something to jumpstart my art again. Along came JohnCon with his passion for the League and his vision for them, and, like a candle lighting another, my passion was soon renewed as we collaborated on one hero after another.”

The Azure E.S.P.′er –

“Don’t sell yourself short, JonLom. If I’ve learned anything these past few months is that you’re damned talented and equally creative. I’m just glad I was the one who set off that spark, before somebody else - or you, yourself - beat me to it. Having you with me as Earth–Α2ΔΣ–′38 gets started has been great. Plus, I made a new best buddy. Which is always good.”

Ultimate Lomeli –

“Renewed passion for art, a chance to test my mettle once more, some of my best work ever, and a new friend - deals don’t get much better than that. Let’s get down to brass tacks, though… JohnCon, why don’t you tell us about why you started the A&A project?”

The Azure E.S.P.′er –

“That’s kind of an involved tale and it, ultimately, comes down to my being spiteful. I was getting back into reading a metric Fuck ton of comic book after taking a short reprieve and, as I am known to do, I kept thinking about how I’d do things different or what I think would be better. I scribbled a bit, here and there and decided to try my hand at re-designing Superman. Then… well, I saw an incomprehensible, three-hour long snuff film made by and for self-important thirteen-year-old boys who believe maturity is brain-dead machismo and meaningless nonsense the same as profound storytelling. That was the final nail in the coffin. I knew I could do better than that. So… I did. Action & Adventure Comics was designed to be a logical alternative to the DCEU and to The Earth One series of graphic novels - which is whole other conversation about awful stories that make me angry. Basically, Ultimate DC. It’s not a new concept. People have been doing their own versions of it for years. But, I’m throwing my hat into the ring, now. Eventually, I came across Roy Westerman’s Earth-27 project and it really inspired me to get more work done on my own. So, we’ve come all this way just for my personal Fuck You to Zack Snyder that he will neither see nor care about. What about you, though? Can you tell us about how you designed these characters and how you came up with the aesthetic?”

Ultimate Lomeli –

“It’s not that I don’t love established designs, because I do, but I more thoroughly enjoy making designs that are my own. I like giving the characters I grew up with my own spin, my own take, my own approach on how I’d design them. That’s the either hit-or-miss aspect of collaboration - bringing someone else’s designs to life is either a great way to push my own merit, test my mettle, learn from others, and improve myself, or I’ll grind my teeth to dust in frustration. My teeth are very much still intact, as I was very fortunate for JohnCon to have the designs in mind that he did, and as we progressed further, more and more of my own influence found its way in there. Batman was the earliest example of me inputting more of my creative control. It’s a fine line to tread between inputting your own design choices respectfully and stomping over someone else’s vision, but it’s been nothing but fun, and I think we found our work flow. My designs ultimately reflect what he tells me about his vision for the character, their personalities, their view of the world. I remembered why I liked collaborating so much in my early days in micro-making. Let's wrap things up, back to the main man, why don’t you tell us what we can expect from The Essential Action & Adventure Comics Universe in the future, JohnCon?”

The Azure E.S.P.′er –

“Sounds like a plan. Not sure anyone wants to hear me ramble about why David S. Goyer & Michael J. Straczynski are dumb stupid idiots, anyway. As for the future of Earth–Α2ΔΣ–′38, JonLom and I - with the help of a couple of other friends of mine - are still working out the details. For starters, you can expect some more micro heroes from the marvelous Ultimate Lomeli once we’ve had a short siesta. As for expansion, I’d like to make Secret Files & Origins profiles, similar to Roy Westerman’s Oracle Files — I’ve got multiple versions in planning, with both in- and out-of-universe sources. Eventually, I want to do actual narrative series - i.e. Fan Fic. I’m woefully out of practice, though. So, it’ll be a while. We’re also open to suggestions and requests, so feel free to tell us what you’d like to see. We hope you enjoy The A&A re-imaginings of DC’s marvelous superheroes.”

Would the word YES apply nicely on this or wouldn't be enough to even describe it?
On simpler terms, I love this Universe both Azure and Lom have made, and want to see more of it.
